Project #3 Artist statement

For this project, I created a whimsical story about the dangers of listening to Tik Tok advice. The project is a cumulation of almost everything we learned in the class leading up to this point. I used Photoshop, Animate, After effects, Audition,Premier and even some AI to voice one of the characters.

The story starts out with the main character who is sitting at home, watching Tik Toks on his phone. After getting in a heated argument with his friend about the videos, he finds himself in a situation where he could use the advice that was bestowed upon him on Tik Tok. The main character tries to disarm the assailant and is killed immediately. This is where the rest of the video becomes animated. After his death, which is depicted as a knockout in Super Smash Bros, there is a trippy sequence of a glowing body, and a bunch of random monuments across the universe that light up. The glowing body eventually turns into a fetus, and the screen cuts to black. This sequence was really just made to depict some sort of reincarnation, or life after death.

An animated version of the main character finds himself in an empty white void. After looking around for a few seconds, he is jump-scared by a biblically accurate angel voiced by Morgan Freeman. The angel explains to the main character that he died because of his own stupidity, and the person who killed him is Fortnite dancing over his dead body. The video ends with a dubstep outro song, and a clip of the mugger dancing over the main characters dead body.

If I had to change anything about the story, I would go back and re-do the live action scenes. There is a lot of swearing in the videos, mainly because my friend and I improvised the dialogue. As I was editing the video, I noticed that there was a lot of swearing, and my classmates seemed to notice when it was presented.

Overall, I enjoyed making this project, and having an opportunity to learn all of the programs that I used for it.
